Zara, Registered Dental Hygienist
Zara is a Registered Dental Hygienist with over fifteen years of experience in the dental field. She started her dental career as a Certified Dental Assistant in Nanaimo where she was born and raised. Her and her husband moved to Vancouver in 2002 and a few years later she decided to continue her dental education and was accepted into the well-respected dental hygiene program at Vancouver Community College, where she graduated with honors in 2009. Zara loves learning and so has continued her dental hygiene education at UBC, where she will graduate with a degree in dental science in May 2014. Although she has received a number of awards in clinical and academic excellence, she is most proud of the compliments she receives from her patients, who note that she is easy going, gentle yet thorough and they are able to relax under her care. Zara can be heard laughing with her patients often and believes that an appointment with your hygienist can actually be fun! When she’s not having fun at work she’s having fun at home chasing her active 1 and 3 year olds around the house-which she believes really is the best exercise you can get! They can often be seen at the parks around Burke Mountain or at the community centre swimming. She also loves to spend time with her large family on the Island, and with her four siblings living over there she is on the ferry quite often!
Maria, Certified Dental Assistant, Certified Dental Anesthesia Assistant
Maria is one of the main Certified Dental Assistants in our practice. She received her dental assistant training from CDI College Burnaby. Because she loves learning new things, Maria decided to further her education and took orthodontic module in CDI College as well. She had been a dental assistant for two years prior to joining our team on April 2012. Part of her previous training was for UBC general practitioner program in Masset, BC. She also currently holds a CPR HCP level certificate. Whenever she’s not in the office, Maria is either in school, learning new things, or spending her time with her family and her boyfriend. Looking for good places to eat, spending time in the parks and lots of singing are just some of her hobbies.
Leeanne, Treatment Coordinator/Administrator
Leeanne graduated from CDI College in 2007 as a Certified Dental Assistant, and then decided to change her focus to dental reception, where she has been working in for eight years now. Leeanne loves building relationships with her patients and making them feel comfortable in the office. Her main focus is treatment coordination, but she enjoys learning and updating her knowledge of the growing and changing dental field. When she is not at the office, Leeanne enjoys going to the gym, travelling, and spending time with her husband and their one year old son.
Coti, Treatment Coordinator
Coti has been working as a Dental Office Receptionist for over 2 years now. She successfully completed the Dental Reception course at Surrey College in 2012, and the Medical Office Assistant program in 2010 at Douglas College. She decided upon these programs as she enjoys customer service, and learning medically related information. She was born in Vernon, and moved to the tri-cities early on in life. Growing up she learned how to play classical piano, and was involved in many sports which gave her the opportunity to travel around Canada. In her spare time, Coti plays wheelchair basketball, and enjoys baking (best cookies in the world), travelling, and spending time with her friends and family. Her main goals are to help others, continue to grow in administration, and live life to the fullest.
