Coquitlam Dentists Address Dental Related Fears
Our Coquitlam dentists want their patients to come into our office in a state of mental ease and physical comfort. Whether you are a parent calming your child’s fears, or a client needing calming, we feel that – being informed is the first step to addressing your concerns.
Fear is all part of the human experience, and dental fear does not take a backseat to such anxieties. Whether you are a child or an adult, we have all experienced the anxiety of the waiting room in a dental office. The all-too-familiar sound of drills, the smell of fluoride, and the mask-wearing hygienists all add to the nervous tension. Whether you have had a bad experience, or have had no experience at all, the known and the unknown alike can both be equally frightening.
However, once you have visited with us, we have full confidence that our gentle and informative staff will relax you into spa-like serenity. From there we will walk you through the dental procedures we will be offering you that day, and answer all your questions – putting you fully at ease prior to any treatments.
To better prepare you, our Coquitlam dentists have compiled 4 simple steps you can take to ensure that you -or your child- will have a positive, fear-free experience with us.
We encourage you to come in and get acquainted a few minutes before your first appointment. Have a look around, meet the receptionist, and ask as many questions you feel necessary
Know that we understand your fears. You won’t be coming into the office, sitting under bright lights, and be poked nor prodded. Rather you will be comforted, and listened to well before your treatment begins
Feel free to bring a “distraction” with you to your appointment. Whether it is a teddy bear or your iPod …whatever best calms you or your child’s nerves, and allows you to relax, we smile upon it 🙂
- Once your appointments begin, we can create a “safety sign” for you. If, at any time, you feel the need to take a break or stop what we are doing, you can prompt us with the agreed upon sign
Sedation Dentistry can also be provided for those who wish to undergo their treatment while being put to sleep. We often recommend this for more complicated procedures, but we are happy to discuss this option with all our patients.
Rest assured, at Dentists R Us our Burnaby, Langley, New Westminster and Coquitlam dentists keep you smiling – both when you arrive, and when you depart!
