At DentistsRUs, all of our dental professionals in the Lower Mainland offer the relaxing benefits of Intravenous (I.V.) Sedation – also referred to as “Conscious Sedation” or “Twilight Sleep”.
This type of sedation ensures that you relaxed and drowsy throughout your dental treatment, maintaining a sense of calm and eliminating any apprehension about the dental work you may require.
How Does Intravenous (I.V.) Sedation Work?
A small plastic catheter is introduced into a vein in your arm or hand, similar to having a blood test, and you are carefully monitored throughout the sedation.
How Will I Feel During Intravenous (I.V.) Sedation?
Throughout the procedure you will feel calm and relaxed, and you may not remember portions of your treatment, as your drowsy state will keep you fairly unaware.
You will still be “aware” and able to follow commands, but you are in an “altered state” which is usually perceived as quite pleasant.
What Are The Benefits of Intravenous (I.V.) Sedation?
IV sedation induces a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered by what’s going on. As well, the drugs used for IV sedation can produce either partial or full memory loss (amnesia) for the period of time when the drug first kicks in until it wears off. As a result, time will appear to pass very quickly and you will not recall much, or perhaps even nothing at all, of your time spent in the dental chair.
I.V. Sedation also reduces anxiety, makes the time pass quickly, and all at a very reasonable cost.
DentistsRUs is pleased to offer IV Sedation at all our dental office locations …so call or click any of our below service providers to set up your appointment today, or to chat further about this relaxed treatment option!
